Playing games on your Nintendo 3DS is all well and good, but there's another use that the stereoscopic 3D can potentially be put towards: works of art.

Colors! 3D, due for release this week on the eShop, turns your stylus into a paintbrush and your 3DS touchscreen into a canvas. Unfortunately, it does not appear that an easel is included, but we'll let that one slide.

The application comes with numerous customisation options, allowing you to sketch, paint, or draw, with a wide range of colours and tools at your disposal.

Colour us interested

Developer Collecting Smiles says that the game / app will allow both casual doodlers and more serious artists to shine, so we'll be interested to see whether it does indeed provide the necessary tools to create 3D masterpieces.

You can also share your works online with the world, or even work on the same canvas as a friend, although only local play is provided for that particular mode.

Colors! 3D will be available later this week, and will set you back £5.40 / $6.99 if you are so inclined.
