American McGee's Shanghai-based development studio Spicy Horse Games, which is responsible for the likes of Alice: Madness Returns, is bringing Little Red Riding Hood-inspired action-RPG Akaneiro: Demon Hunters to tablets, the web, and PC.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters sees you join an exclusive society of demon hunters known as The Order of Akane, and set off across a hand-painted world inspired by ancient demons and Japan's Edo period in order to rid a village of yokai.

The blood you spill as you slaughter said yokai can be turned into crystalline shards called Karma Shards, which you can harvest. It's possible that these shards allow you to upgrade your weapons.

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters will be a free-to-play title, but Spicy Horse Games has promised that it won't be "naggy" or "spammy".

We presume it'll hit the iPad as well as Android-powered tablets.
