It looks like Rovio, just like the infamous magpie, has acquired a penchant for shiny things - namely, money. The (extremely) recently launched Angry Birds Space is packed full of in-app purchases.

And you'll have to put your hand in your pocket and splash some cash on them if you want to unlock all of the Game Center achievements associated with this feather-flinging title.

For example, you'll nab yourself an achievement if you "buy Danger Zone", which is a set of 30 rock-hard levels. You'll earn an additional achievement if you unleash the game's special Space Eagle bird, which is basically the Mighty Eagle found in previous Angry Birds games.

More, and more

Unlike the Mighty Eagle, though, the Space Eagle isn't a one-off purchase - you have to spend tokens to use him. These cost between 69p / 99c for 20 and £13.99 / $19.99 for 980.

Furthermore, when you use your Space Eagle tokens, you can earn "feathers" from each of the game's stages for causing 100 per cent destruction. You'll need to earn 50 feathers to unlock two further achievements, which could cost a pretty penny in the long run.

Angry Birds Space costs 69p / 99c for iPhone [buy], £1.99 / $2.99 for iPad [buy], and absolutely nada on Android [download].
