Free-to-play iPhone and iPad MMO Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North hits the App Store

"Hardcore social games developer" Kabam has made its App Store debut with the release of free-to-play iPhone and iPad MMO Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North.

This empire-constructing title, which has already managed to catapult its way into 12th place on Apple's Top Grossing iPhone Apps chart, builds on the legacy of popular social title Kingdoms of Camelot, which has attracted 15 million players worldwide since it launched.

"Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North offers a deeply engaging mobile MMO experience gamers can play anywhere on their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch," Andrew Sheppard, Kabam's president, said.

"We've applied all the knowledge we've gained building the leading free-to-play hardcore strategy games on the web to bring our first entry to the rapidly growing mobile games space."

Medieval

Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North sees you take up residence in a "persistent" world that allows you to compete or co-operate with thousands of other players in real time.

Your aim is to construct a bustling city, carefully manage your resources, put together armies, increase your powers through alchemy, and create large-scale alliances before heading into battle. Phew.

"We listened when our players asked us to bring our style of gameplay to iOS so they can get the rush that comes with real time, synchronous MMO-style alliance battles right on their iOS devices," Matt Ricchetti, Kabam's VP of mobile, stated.
