Samsung has announced an all-new low-end Android smartphone called the Galaxy Pocket, which is running version 2.3 (a.k.a. Gingerbread) of Google's mobile OS.

The Galaxy Pocket, which features a 2.8-inch display, packs a 832MHz processor, Samsung's TouchWiz user interface, and 3GB of internal memory. You can expand said memory up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It also has a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, a built-in MP3 player, and a ton of social features, such as Samsung's Social Hub and its ChatOn cross-platform communication service.

The Social Hub allows you to view all of your IMs, emails, and messages from various social networks in a single unified inbox.

Out the box

"With the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, we are building on the features we know our customers enjoy and get the most out of," Simon Stanford, UK & IRE VP of telecommunications & networks division, said.

"This new device adds further breadth to the choice of smartphones we currently offer and provides a smartphone experience for even more customers at an affordable price."
