Last year, ZeptoLab's Cut the Rope won the award for Best Handheld Game at the annual BAFTA Video Game Awards. It was the first time an iOS title had been nominated.

This year, however, things have changed. The freshly named Mobile and Handheld section of the BAFTA awards is swamped with iOS and Android games.

In fact, five of the six nominated titles are all playable on smartphones.

The 'other' nominee in the Mobile and Handheld category is Nintendo's rather excellent 3DS hit Super Mario 3D Land, which earned a Pocket Gamer Gold Award at review.

What's on?

Mobile-wise, it's not really surprising to see EA's Dead Space in the running for an award: it nabbed a Silver accolade from our review room, after all.

Gold Award-winning puzzlers Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint, Peggle, and Quarrel are also in with the chance of picking up an award. As is Papa Sangre follow-up The Nightjar.

Which one would you choose?
