DoDonPachi Blissful Death swoops onto iPhone tomorrow, priced £2.99/$4.99

Having been gobbling up 100-yen coins in Japanese arcades for nigh on a decade, Cave's bullet-hell shooter DoDonPachi Blissful Death will soon be playable on iPhone. Tomorrow, in fact.

This iOS port of the fourth arcade game in Cave's long-running DonPachi series packs in six different types of ship, four difficulty levels, and the company's now-infamous hyper system and combo attacks.

For those of you new to the manic shooter scene, the dev has incorporated a Practice mode into proceedings.

For those of you well versed in frantic shoot-'em-ups, meanwhile, the dev has baked support for Game Center and OpenFeint into DoDonPachi Blissful Death, so you can check out your global rankings on a regular basis.

Fans of Cave's previous DoDonPachi outing on iOS, DoDonPachi Resurrection, will appreciate the difference the bespoke touchscreen controls make to the frenetic DoDonPachi gameplay experience on iPhone. Suffice it to say, Cave has included similar touchscreen-tailored controls in Blissful Death.

DoDonPachi Blissful Death has already flown onto the New Zealand App Store, so expect to see it in your neck of the woods from midnight this evening, priced £2.99 / $4.99.
