Mass Effect 3 companion game Mass Effect Infiltrator slipping onto iPhone and iPad 'soon'

Late last year, we reported on an untitled Mass Effect project that would allow an iOS user to continue the Mass Effect 3 console experience on his iPhone and iPad.

Yesteday, EA made good on that promise, confirming Mass Effect Infiltrator for iOS devices.

Part-companion game, part-standalone third-person shooter, Mass Effect Infiltrator features "stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series".

In effect

At its core, Mass Effect Infiltrator challenges you to bring down shady paramilitary group Cerberus by freeing prisoners and gathering evidence of the organisation's nefarious dealings.

And regarding that tie-in element with Mass Effect 3 - according to an official EA pamphlet obtained by Shack News, "every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player's Galactic Readiness rating directly through the Galaxy at War system in Mass Effect 3."

Apparently, Mass Effect Infiltrator will arrive stealthily on the App Store "soon". In case you were wondering, Mass Effect 3 will launch on home consoles on March 9th. You do the maths.
