Minecraft meets Call of Duty in upcoming cross-platform shooter Brick Force
Closed beta applications now underway
Infernum and EXE Games have lifted the lid on what looks to be one of the most interesting genre mash-ups we've seen in some time: the sandbox shooter Brick Force.
Brick Force effectively takes the Creative mode from indie sensation Minecraft, and pops a bunch of gun-toting soldiers into these user-made arenas to fight it out to the death.
Built on the Unity engine, the title is playable across multiple platforms, allowing for browser-based foes from the PC to team up / face off against iOS and Android users on their devices.
Judging by the early screenshots (click on the gallery above to see more), it also features some rather good-looking cel-shaded graphics.
Build me level to stand the test of timeInfernum will be holding a closed beta of the game before it goes live, starting on Feburary 28th. If you want to take part in the beta, you can register your interest by navigating to the official Brick Force website.
The final release date for the title hasn't been set in stone just yet, with a vague "spring" release currently on the table. We do know, however, that it will be a free-to-play game when it does arrive.
