Rumour: Refreshed Samsung Galaxy Nexus with improved camera and 1.5GHz processor on its way
|

A recent benchmark score over on website NenaMark points to a refreshed Samsung Galaxy Nexus device that's packing a powerful PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor.

That's the very same PowerVR SGX544 that features in Texas Instruments's upcoming OMAP4470 processor.

The tech-savvy folk among you will already know that the Galaxy Nexus currently sitting on store shelves around the world features the less powerful OMAP4460 processor and SGX540 GPU.

This, of course, isn't the first time we've seen evidence of a revamped Galaxy Nexus. Earlier this month, a leaked Sprint advertisement showed a 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus with an upgraded 1.5GHz processor.

Bits and bobs

Samsung underclocked the 1.5GHz OMAP4460 processor found in the current Galaxy Nexus to 1.2GHz, so it's possible the company could underclock the 1.8GHz OMAP4470 processor to around 1.5GHz.

The forthcoming Sprint-powered Galaxy Nexus is purported to have an improved 8-megapixel camera. If true, a small processor bump doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility.
