Given how even FarmVille was based on an existing IP, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn that Zynga's upcoming iOS release Dream Heights isn't a completely original idea.

That's something that Tiny Tower developer NimbleBit has noticed, too. To prove its point, the San Diego-based indie studio knocked up an image combining screenshots of the two titles.

Zynga's Dream Heights is a tower-building freemium title that sees you adding different floors to your high rise, giving your denizens employment, and gathering up cash to build the tower ever higher.

A bit like NimbleBit's Tiny Tower, then.

Take me higher

It has to be said that NimbleBit's response to Zynga's new title was more understated than you might expect from a three-man indie team when faced with a much larger rival muscling in on the same genre.

"We wanted to thank all you guys for being such big fans of our iPhone game of the year," the team's response read. "Good luck with your game, we are looking forward to inspiring you with our future games."

The very cynical among you now have the opportunity to point out that SimTower effectively offered up the same tower-building experience as Tiny Tower and Dream Heights over a decade and a half ago.
