At the beginning of January, Fishlabs revealed that it would be bringing a special HD version of its first Galaxy on Fire 2 expansion pack, Valkyrie, to the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 sometime in the early part of this year.

If that wasn't enough to send a tingle down your spine, the Hamburg-based developer has just announced that Galaxy on Fire 2 - Supernova, the space adventure title's second add-on, will hit the App Store during "Q2 2012". Between the beginning of April and the end of June, in other words.

This next part in the Galaxy on Fire 2 series thrusts you - once again - into the role of space adventurer Keith T. Maxwell, and directly follows the events that unfolded in Valkyrie.

This time around, though, the focus is on the long-term scuffle between the Nivelian Republic and the Midorian Confederation.

Upgraded

Supernova will introduce a "vast number" of new ships, fresh weapon systems, and state-of-the-art high-tech gadgets. You can check a few of them out in our gallery above.

"Supernova will not only be more cinematic and more varied, but also at least twice as long as Valkyrie," Michael Schade, Fishlabs CEO, said.

"We’ve put a lot of time and effort into the writing of the complex new storyline, which includes a lot of new mission types and makes for a truly outstanding gaming experience."

We'll let you know the exact release date and price for the forthcoming expansion pack as soon as, well, we get told. Promise.
