You're probably wondering why a website that specialises in portable consoles and games is reporting on the fact that Quarrel is making its way to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade service.

Right?

Well, the iPhone version of Quarrel just happens to have scooped a PG Gold Award in the relatively recently past, so we thought we'd make a rare exception. It may also be a slow news day.

Anyway, in case you're unfamiliar with this rather unique word game, it combines elements of popular boardgames Risk and Scrabble. This means you have to defeat opponents and take over their territory by creating the highest-scoring word from various anagrams.

Quarrel features a single-player campaign that pits you against nine computer-controlled opponents across twelve levels and four themed environments, as well as a Multiplayer mode for up to four different strategists.

Quarrel will be available through the Xbox Live Arcade service from January 25th for 400 Microsoft points, which is £3.43. Exactly.
