Taito's old skool arcade shooter RayForce blasts onto the iPhone for £7.99 / $11.99

We told you just a couple of days ago that Japanese developer Taito was bringing the first title in its beloved Ray trilogy of arcade shoot-'em-ups to the iPhone.

We weren't lying.

RayForce is now available on the App Store for the rather large sum of £7.99 / $11.99.

Taito's shooter comes packing two distinct modes: Arcade, which is a "faithful touchscreen recreation" of the original arcade experience; and iPhone mode, a smartphone-optimised adventure with simple flick-style controls.

Shoot on sight

In addition, there are two different shooting methods (automatic and manual) and two different display types (zoom and original), so you can customise your game however you see fit.

Finally, Taito has baked in support for Apple's social gaming network Game Center, and has implemented individual leaderboards for each of RayForce's stages and game modes.

If you're in the market for a challenging old skool shooter, you can grab RayForce from the App Store right now for £7.99 / $11.99.
