Stat-tracking Call of Duty Elite app for Modern Warfare 3 launches on iOS, Android version due next week

Activision has finally launched its delayed Call of Duty Elite app for iPhone on the App Store, with an Android version set to follow next week.

This free companion app lets you track your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 stats, player information, and challenge progress on the go.

You can study detailed accounts of your last ten games on the Call of Duty Elite app, and customise your loadouts while you’re out and about. These loadouts are then magically transferred across to your Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 console game as soon as you log in.

The Call of Duty Elite service suffered a troubled launch when it debuted alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 last November. The Elite mobile app was then intentionally held back to avoid additional strain on Activision's struggling servers.

One of the features still absent from the mobile app, however, is clan operation, a feature that developer Beachhead Studio is working on.

"Part of the reason they're not up yet is because we learned a tremendous amount at launch about testing and scaling and making sure that things are at the level that the community really, really wants it to be at before releasing them into the wild," Beachhead's Chock Sonny explained.

Sonny added that the app will be optimised for tablets after the smartphone versions are perfected.

In the meantime, grab the free Call of Duty Elite app for iPhone from Apple's digital store now.
