Grand Theft Auto 3 and Sonic CD among the top-reviewed iPhone games for December
|

If you were wondering what the best-reviewed iPhone games on the web last month were, here's the Quality Index round-up for December to fill you in. If you weren't, well, here they are, anyway.

The Quality Index boasts over 110,000 reviews from websites like 148Apps, Pocket Gamer, and Macworld, and uses a unique metric to create a single definitive score for each iPhone title.

Force of nature

Evoking the look, sounds, and sheer hyperactive energy of your typical Saturday morning kids cartoon, Seal Force has proven a big hit with reviewers in December, propelling it to the summit of our Qi leaderboard.

While I'd give it a 10/10 for its theme tune alone, other critics have chosen to eulogise its depth of gameplay and vivid cast of characters. To each his own, eh.

Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto 3 just narrowly misses out on the top spot this month, with the open-world crime classic receiving glowing praise from across the iPhone app review world.

But, Rockstar's port isn't the only retro remake to occupy a podium position this time around, as Sega's famous Blue Blur speeds into third place.

An updated version of the 1993 Mega-CD game, Sonic CD has you battling repeat offender and rotund genius Dr Robotnik, and introduces us to series villain Metal Sonic.

N.B. While we only display the average score to one decimal place, the list is generated to further significant figures. We just don't show them all. And, naturally, this is a static graph based on live listings which are subject to constant change as new releases and reviews emerge. In order to provide a regular marker of the critical zeitgeist, however, we will continue to round up the best of the iPhone games released each month to provide the definitive Quality Index top ten.
