Alawar's match-3 puzzler Treasures of Montezuma Blitz to be first free-to-play game on PS Vita when it launches in February

Alawar Entertainment has announced that its forthcoming PS Vita game Treasures of Montezuma Blitz will be the handheld's first free-to-play affair.

The release of the match-three puzzler Treasures of Montezuma Blitz is scheduled to coincide with the February launch of the Vita in North America and Europe.

Alawar has opted to bolster the traditional The Treasures of Montezuma experience with features tailored to the Vita's strengths, including implementing controls that make use of the console's sixaxis motion sensitive technology, rear touchpad, and front touchscreen.

The Vita's StreetPass-inspired Near service will be used to collect and share items. You will also be able to take on other Treasures of Montezuma Blitz players in weekly tournaments. Online multiplayer has not been confirmed at this time.

Treasures of Montezuma Blitz will be available on PS Vita next month.
