RIM drops price of BlackBerry PlayBook to $299 in US or from £249 in UK
Slash and burn
Still got some spare cash, or head room until you max out your credit card?
If so, you might be interested in the sale that RIM's kicked off to get rid of its warehouse full of unsold BlackBerry PlayBook tablets.
Cheap, cheapIt might not sound like a great opportunity, but the main reason the device hasn't sold to-date is that it was overpriced, originally starting at $499 or £399 for the 16GB version.
In technical terms, the 7-inch device will fit into your suit pocket, is solidly built and pretty handy for browsing and web mail, although somewhat lacking when it comes to games and apps.
Spec-wise, it's certainly much better than Amazon's $299 Kindle Fire.
And to encourage your custom, RIM has slashed the price of all capacities of PlayBook (16GB - 64GB) in North America to $299, while in the UK, sale prices range from £249 to £409. There doesn't appear to be a sale in Europe or Australasia.
You order direct from RIM North America or RIM UK.
