Sega has launched a HD version for iPad of its Bronze Award-winning iPhone platformer Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1.

The first instalment in this particular Blue Blur series debuted on Apple's smartphone over a year ago, but Sega has only just got around to optimising the game for iPad with high-definition visuals.

To placate you impatient iPad-owning Sonic fans slightly, it's worth our pointing out that these iOS editions of Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 feature exclusive levels designed specifically for the devices' accelerometer.

Lagging behind

Some players, meanwhile, have taken to the game's App Store product page to alert others of lag issues with the iPad version.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 HD is available on iPad from Apple's digital emporium for £1.49 / $1.99.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, incidentally, may not be too far off. On December 29th, Sega will reportedly reveal all.
