Welcome back to Pocket Gamer's round-up of the latest iPhone and iPad mid-week releases.

As you all probably know by now, we produce this article because we're simply too busy to bring you a story on every single new mid-week release.

Because it's Christmas week, these titles have been popping up in App Stores around the world since Monday.

So, you can grab most of them right now.

iPhone Mega Man X

Capcom's popular Mega Man X has arrived on the iPhone with several new enhancements, most noteworthy of which are Retina display compatibility and support for social gaming network Game Center.

There are two different game modes to play through - Regular and Full - and a variety of difficulty levels to tackle.

Curio

Curio tasks you with helping Ron Templeton III escape from a mental asylum, by escorting him around obstacles and ensuring that he doesn't take his medication.

According to Curio's App Store description, "Most gamers will not have the concentration and hand-eye coordination needed to truly push the limits of Ron's capabilities."

Area 51 Defense

If you thought the App Store needed another tower defence title, you'll probably be pleased to read that Area 51 Defense is now available to download.

There are 51 Campaign missions for you to blast through, and a special Survival mode to, well, survive. The latter features 12 unique maps and 14 different types of deadly enemy.

Mad Dog McCree

If you're unfamiliar with Mad Dog McCree, it's a live-action shooter that's graced the 3DO, CD-I, Sega CD, and several arcades.

Basically, your job is to rid the Wild West of ruthless outlaw Mad Dog McCree and his band of wanted fugitives by spraying them full of lead.

iPad Jurassic Park: The Game 2 HD

The second iPad 2-exclusive instalment of Jurassic Park: The Game takes place, once again, during the events of the franchise's popular first movie.

This episode sees you, Nima, Gerry, and Jess attempt to reach the coast of Isla Nublar. Unfortunately for all of the above, dinosaurs are roaming freely following a security failure. Drats.

Universal Law & Order: Legacies

Law & Order: Legacies is, funnily enough, based on NBC Universal's Emmy-winning TV series, and includes many of the franchise's popular cast, such as Olivia Benson, Lennie Briscoe, and Rey Curtis.

The game is split into seven different episodes, though only the first three can be played at present. Additional episodes will be available via IAP at a later date.

Dungeon Hunter 3

The third iPhone and iPad game in Gameloft's Dungeon Hunter series does away with the franchise's popular dungeon-looting gameplay, and instead charges you with dispatching waves of enemies through various arenas.

Pocket Gamer went hands-on with Dungeon Hunter 3 earlier this month, so be sure to check that out.
