Madfinger Games has issued an update for its Gears of War-esque shooter Shadowgun that adds new content and several improvements to the Pocket Gamer Silver Award winner.

For starters, the expansion - entitled Datadisc - introduces four all-new levels, which take place directly after the events of John Slade's initial jaunt into Dr Edgar Simon's research facility.

These new stages add a new creature and a fresh weapon to the mix, but also mark the return of the game's familiar cyborgs, droids, and genetically enhanced humanoids. Or 'bullet magnets', as we tend to call them.

Furthermore, Madfinger Games has "tuned" all of Shadowgun's difficulty settings, weapons, and enemies.

Stay down, boy

Finally, the free update comes complete with several graphical enhancements, plus new animations and cutscenes. The game's camera now shakes when you witness an explosion, for example. There's also a new soundtrack.

You can grab Shadowgun and its new content from the App Store right now for just £1.99 / $2.99. It's a Universal app, so you can play it on all of your Apple devices.
