Hero of Sparta II (iPhone)

Gameloft's Hero of Sparta II might be heavily inspired by console hit God of War, but it still managed to slash its way to a deserved Pocket Gamer Bronze Award.

The hack 'n' slash-'em-up sees you stab, slice, whack, and stab your way through 12 unique levels, each packed to the virtual rafters with enemies of varying shapes, sizes, and abilities.

Velocispider (Universal)

If you haven't already guessed from the game's name, the Space Invaders-esque Velocispider sees you take control of a protagonist who is half-velociraptor, half-spider.

If that wasn't weird enough, you're tasked with protecting various eggs from the CEO of the Robot Seafood Corporation and his numerous minions.
