We reported last week that Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro had the 'first shocking announcement' of a new forthcoming Pokemon game.

We now know what that game is, but it definitely wasn't what we expected.

Rather than being the much-anticipated first proper Pokemon game for the 3DS, the 'shocking' title is a Nobunaga's Ambition cross-over, slated to hit Japanese DS machines in 2012.

If you're unfamiliar with Nobunaga's Ambition, it's a historical strategy role-playing series that tasks you with battling to achieve the unification of Japan.

It's a strange cross-over to say the least, so we'd be extremely surprised to see it arrive on Western shores.
