Plants vs Zombies shuffles onto PS Vita launch line-up

PopCap Games’s popular tower defense hit Plants vs Zombies is coming to PlayStation Vita as a launch title next year.

The announcement came from Sony this morning, who tweeted: “Surprise! Plants vs Zombies is coming to PS Vita.”

The game is all about fending off waves of brain-eating zombies by planting a garden of defensive plants. Pea-shooters gun down the undead, for example, while impenetrable walnuts stop them in their tracks.

The game has cropped up on everything from iPad to Nintendo DS, and from iPhone to Xbox Live Arcade.

According to IGN’s hands-on, the Vita version is identical “in just about every way” to the PlayStation Network version, only with Vita-specific leaderboards and optional touch controls included.

Plants vs Zombies will launch alongside the PlayStation Vita hardware on February 22nd.
