Super Mario 3D Land wins Best Handheld / Mobile Game at Spike Video Game Awards 2011, Miyamoto accepts Hall of Fame honour for Zelda series
Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS has won the Best Handheld / Mobile Game trophy at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards.

Nintendo's PG Gold Award-winning platformer went up against a handful of nominees in the Handheld / Mobile category, including DS thriller Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Halfbrick's iOS endless-flyer Jetpack Joyride, and Chair Entertainment’s iOS epic Infinity Blade. Super Mario 3D Land launched worldwide last month, and has become the fastest-selling portable Mario game ever already, boasting sales of over 1 million copies. In other Mario-related Spike news, the Italian plumber's creator Shigeru Miyamoto made an appearance at the ceremony to accept the inaugural Spike Video Game Hall of Fame Award for The Legend of Zelda series.
