Personae Studios reboots MechWarrior for iOS in the robotic shape of MechWarrior: Tactical Command - launching on App Store in 2012

Things have been rather quiet in the MechWarrior camp of late. The once-popular PC franchise seemed to have powered down for good, with the MechCommander and MechAssault titles becoming the focus of the BattleTech universe.

The lights are now back on, however, as Personae Studios has announced MechWarrior: Tactical Command for iOS will be stomping onto the App Store in 2012.

It turns out Personea Studies has been working on the game since 2009, and plans to bring the strategic focus back to the armoured core of the franchise.

Gun-Damn

Boasting complex missions, over 30 mech options, and another arsenal of futuristic weaponry, MechWarrior: Tactical Command will allow players to turn their enemies into smouldering heaps of chrome through the considered application of real-time tactics.

It looks like the fanbase is still strong, too, with fan mod MechWarrior: Living Legends keeping the spirit of the series alive, and taking home MobBD's 2009 Mod of the Year trophy in the process.

We haven't got any details on launch quarter, price, and whether MechWarrior: Tactical Command will be a Universal build or comprise two separate apps for iPhone and iPad. We do know it's "coming in 2012", though.
