The latest Nintendo 3DS system update has gone live across Europe and the US following a last-minute delay.

The update delivers an array of new features, including 3D video capture that will allow you to record and view up to 10 minutes of 3D video on the handheld, a time-lapse function, and Frame Pick for creating some cool stop motion-footage.

Nintendo has also added Puzzle Swap panels and an all-new RPG mini-game StreetPass Quest (complete with a host of new collectible hats) to the StreetPass Mii Plaza.

All mapped out

Also new to the Mii Plaza is a StreetPass map that records the home country of those you cross paths with - the aim is to fill the map in by passing one person from each nation. In addition, the new Accomplishments page lists your StreetPass achievements.

Ninty has seen fit to revamp the eShop, too: the 3DS's digital storefront now supports demo versions of select 3DS games. You're also now able to download software via the eShop even when the device is in sleep mode. As previously reported, though, the eShop will become inaccessible until you've downloaded the latest system update.

Transferring content between 3DS systems is also now possible. Up to five transfers are available, allowing you to move eShop purchases and funds, save data, photos, and music to another 3DS console. Nintendo warns that a waiting period between transfers will apply.

The 3DS system update is available to download now. To download it, click on the 'System Settings' icon on the home page menu. From here, visit 'Other Settings' and select 'System Update' to begin the process. An internet connection is required to perform the update.
