Nintendo announces brand-new StreetPass Quest and improved eShop experience in November 3DS software update
If you see me walking down the street
Alongside delivering 3D video recording and stop-motion functionality, the November software update for the Nintendo 3DS will bring about major changes to the Mii Plaza and StreetPass systems.
Once the firmware update goes live next month, meeting others on StreetPass will result in your handheld recording their home country. The aim, apparently, is to try to fill in your little map by passing at least one person from every country.
Other new features for the 3DS announced during Nintendo's press conference today include an improved eShop and more customisable clothes. At one stage in the presentation video, we saw Miis fully kitted out as Link, and some sporting the more familiar Pikmin hats.
One more thing... there appears to be a multiplayer option in StreetPass Quest. A second campaign - playable by those who have completed the first Quest - allows for branching paths and two-on-two battles.
We don't yet know whether this will involve live multiplayer or simply the ability to recruit other Miis to your party. Either way, it is shaping up to be a pretty fun firmware upgrade for the 3DS.
