Old skool platforming classic Miner 2049er leaping onto iOS

Miner 2049er came out nearly three decades ago, and now Magmic is bringing the classic to the iPhone and iPad.

A platform-based game, Miner 2049er has you climbing ladders and avoiding enemies while collecting as much gold as possible.

Details are scant, but Magmic has mentioned that the platformer will get a “sexy makeover”. We’re not sure if it means the game or, ahem, our hero Yukon Bob himself. It’s also unclear whether it will be a Universal app for iPhone and iPad or two separate games.

Back in 2007, we gave the J2ME version of Miner2049er a paltry 4 because of its boring, repetitive gameplay. Let’s hope the new update delivers enough quality gameplay to satisfy not only the old skool gamers, but also the modern ones.
