Famed Final Fantasy developer Square Enix is bringing its own arcade cabinet iPad peripheral to market later this year, packed full of handy extras not found in the current iCade offering.

Officially authorised by Apple, the iNVADERCADE is a faithful recreation of the classic 1978 Space Invaders upright arcade game cabinet.

It will retail for around £150 - considerably more than the iCade's £79.99 asking price - but does come housing an in-built amp, stereo speakers, and the ability to charge your iPad via its AC adapter.

The cabinet comes with its own volume controller, but you can also plug in your headphones should the need arise.

Currently, the arcade cabinet is only compatible with Taito's Space Invaders HD (link), which can be purchased separately through Apple's App Store.

More news as we get it.
