Game Dev Story developer Kairosoft has launched its latest iPhone assault on the Japanese App Store in the form of new SimCity-esque simulation Edo Town.

This build-'em-up takes place during Japan's Edo period, which saw the country ruled by fierce shogun warriors.

Tasked with building a prosperous town, you have to construct houses, stables, and businesses, offer the locals food and water, teach students, and generally keep the population happy.

We've emailed Kairosoft to confirm that Edo Town will make the journey to European and US shores, but given the success of the developer's previous titles, it's hard to see why it wouldn't.

Edo Town was featured in our list of the top ten Kairosoft games we want in English, meaning we have our fingers crossed that it arrives in the west sooner rather than later.
