Originally released back in March, Canadian developer Arctic Empire has been honing its space-based puzzle Galaxy Express ever since.

Of course, this means various bug fixes and UI improvements, as well as bulking up its PR push with some of the best press releases we've seen since Polish developer iFun4All was in full flow with Crap of Defense.

Oh, and the most recent update has also been linked to a price drop from $2.99 to 99c, which is always good news.

90 degrees of freedom

As for what you actually get up to in the game, Galaxy Express is a tile-based puzzler that's a little like Chu Chu Rocket but without all that cat and mouse stuff.

Instead, you have to guide your space ship around the 120 grid-based puzzles, using the provided directional arrows and various obstacles - you turn right when you hit a wall or 180 degrees when you hit an asteroid - to get to the planet.

It's not timed, you don't die, it's just a nice brain scratcher that will appeal to a thoughtful audience.

Galaxy Express is out now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 69p as a universal app for iPhone and iPad.

Alternatively, you can try the Lite version - which contains 15 unique levels - for free. [iTunes link]
