[UPDATE: I Hate Puzzle has now been removed from the App Store.]

I've already written a couple of these kinda stories since starting at Pocket Gamer, and this, alas, probably won't be my last.

I Hate Puzzle, a blatant clone of Flash game Super Puzzle Platformer, has popped up on Apple's App Store.

The guilty party?

Our old 'friend' Yan Zhenhua, who was responsible for ripping off another Flash favourite The Blocks Cometh back in January. On that occasion, though, he didn't even have the decency to change the game's name.

We were alerted to this new Zhenhua copycat title by Super Puzzle Platformer's developer, who hopes to garner enough attention to remove the clone, and make room for a legitimate version.

Same old, same old

As you can see from the side-by-side comparison above (real version on the left), the games are almost identical.

Video game copyright law is a messy situation, but Pocket Gamer - with the help of Sheridans Media Lawyers - has explained it in greater detail.

I Hate Puzzle is currently 69p / 99c / €0.79 for a limited time, but we suggest that you steer clear and wait for a legitimate version to hit the virtual shelves.
