Considering he used to work at Apple, ensuring games and iOS devices worked well together, it's no surprise Graeme Devine's latest game pushes the technical envelope.

Optimised for iPad 2, Full Deck Hold'Em uses its front-facing camera so you can really test out your poker face when you're playing.

Up to four people can play using the tech via the video chat option. The game's iPad-only so if you have the original tablet, you can still chat and view your iPad 2-owning friends' faces. Obviously they can't see you, which might be an advantage.

Lay it down

As for the card gameplay details, it has all the things you'd expect and want from a poker game. As well as multiplayer options, there are also 16 AI characters to play against in single player, each of which has their own personality and will improve the more you play.

Online-wise, there's auto matching and invite matching, plus public and private tables and limit and no limit tables. Achievements and leaderboards are supported, including ranking amongst your friends, and integration with Facebook.

When it comes to virtual gambling, there's a daily spin to provide you with extra cash, and you can call in your rich uncle to top up your supply when you run low.

Still, as Devine points out, this isn't supposed to be a super serious poker game, but more of a fun experience you play with friends and family.

Full Deck Hold'Em is out now for iPad, priced $2.99, €2.39 and £1.99.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
