After several months on shelves in the UK, the US, and elsewhere, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play is finally due to launch in Brazil.

It’s the standard model, complete with 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and of course the slider featuring those handy PlayStation buttons (and slightly less handy dual touchpads).

Veteran mobile game developer Gameloft has signed agreements with Brazilian telecoms providers Claro and Vivo, while EA is set to work with all operators.

Notably, the phone is launching with Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, the sequel to the free PSOne game European and US users received and, in this writer’s opinion, a better platformer all round.

The phone will be available from August 26th in major retailers.
