Ubisoft revealed today that it's planning on one day bringing the Assassin's Creed franchise to tablets.

Unfortunately, that bang you can hear is the sound of one door opening as another one closes. The company has now announced that Assassin's Creed on the Nintendo 3DS has been cancelled.

Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy will no longer be coming to 3DS, says Ubisoft's Alain Martinez. "[The cancellation] was a decision made back in September 2010," he notes.

"It wasn't due to anything that took place. We felt the machine already had a number of hardcore games for its release."

With the news of Mega Man Legends 3 being cancelled earlier in the week, things are going from bad to worse for the 3DS software 2011 line-up.
