Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty out on iPhone and iPad tonight

With Chris Evans donning the blue uniform and iconic shield of Captain America in the picture house this week, it only makes sense that an iOS game should arrive starring Steve Rodgers’s alter ego.

Today, Disney Mobile, in partnership with Marvel Entertainment, will release Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty as a Universal app for iPhone and iPad.

Whilst controlling The First Avenger, players will hunt down the nazi baddie Red Skull and his Hydra soldiers by unleashing combos and flinging the Cap’n’s red, white, and blue shield at enemies over 24 levels of side-scrolling beat-‘em-up action.

The story (a prequel to the movie) was written by Christos Gage, who’s been writing comics since 2004. Add to that the renderings of Marvel artists Ron Lim and Christopher Sotomayor and you've got what looks to be an authentic comic book feel.

The game is available now in New Zealand and should be hitting US and UK App Stores tonight. It’ll be a patriotic £2.99/$4.99/€3.99.
