Remember finger shoes, the old skool tiny feet that would slide onto your index and middle finger? Do a quick YouTube search and you’ll see them in action.

The game Finger Shoes takes the concept and turns it into a mobile game. Unfortunately, it has neither enough sole nor enough soul. (Really? - ed).

In Finger Shoes, you play a cute kid walking through hazardous areas. The goal is to step on as many lit squares as possible while avoiding obstacles.

Stepping out

Actually, the obstacles don’t hurt you, but they linger on the squares and prevent you from stepping on them. The game is over when you miss too many squares, either because of obstacles or because they scrolled too fast. It’s more power-walking than a leisurely stroll.

Finger Shoes has an original forward-scrolling perspective that makes it feel like you’re going into the screen, almost as if the ground itself was one big ball and you were walking to keep up with its rotation.

Unfortunately, the sound and music are an aggravating combination of bleeps and bloops – and, worst of all, you can’t listen to your own music while you’re walking.

Walk away

The levels require some fancy footwork, often with you using both fingers to tap your way down the path. The areas are intense, but brief, lasting about a minute. And, frankly, the game didn't keep our attention for that long.

Finger Shoes does attempt some twists, like hidden objects and a ranking system. In the end, though, it's boring. It’s hard to justify a purchase when it when it could be just as fun playing with your own fingers on a kitchen table – and a heck of a lot cheaper.
