Namco Bandai Games's new puzzler Mooniacs has arrived on the New Zealand App Store, with a UK appearance scheduled for midnight.

You're tasked with helping the strange and stranded race of Mooniacs return to their home, by collecting precious JujuBees and rebuilding their ship.

This is achieved by playing through 90 levels and across three worlds - Briars & Brambles, The Fungi Forest, and The Deserted Island.

You only have one shot per level to complete your task, which you take by grabbing a Mooniac and pulling backwards to aim (not unlike Angry Birds). The more Jujubees you collect, the better the ending you unlock.

JujuBees can also be sent to the Great Swarm, a section on the Mooniacs's website where contributions from players are aggregated and extra content can be unlocked.

You can post your high scores to Facebook and Game Center, and grab all manner of achievements along the way.

Update: In case this all looks familiar, Mooniacs enjoyed a previous life on the App Store as Moonsters, getting a six out of ten from Pocket Gamer. It's unclear how extensive the differences are beyond the addition of Retina display graphics, but we've asked Namco Bandai for clarification. Mooniacs will be available on the US store from around 11pm, and on the UK store from midnight for £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59.
