Rumour: Apple bringing two new iPhone models to market in September

Rumours have been circulating for months regarding Apple's next iPhone release, with some believing it'll be the evolutionary 4S and not the - possibly - revolutionary iPhone 5.

However, according to a note by Deutsche Bank's analyst Chris Whitmore, we might see both devices launched this September, with the 4S acting as the rumoured iPhone nano - a cheaper, smaller device aimed at the mid-market.

"We expect Apple to refresh the iPhone in September with two SKUs (stock keeping units); namely the iPhone 5 and a lower-end iPhone 4S handset," Whitmore wrote.

Talking to Bernstein's Toni Sacconaghi earlier this year, Apple COO Tim Cook revealed that his company's products were not intended "just for the rich" and talked about the opportunity that the iPhone presented - perhaps lending credence to the rumour.

Whatever Apple is planning, September can't come quickly enough.
