Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing zipping onto the App Store tomorrow

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing zipping onto the App Store tomorrow

Normally when multiplatform releases come around they tend to be launched at least relatively close together.

Not so in the case of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, which is set to arrive on the App Store tomorrow a good year after it was released on consoles.

Heck, even Java had a version sooner, which is saying something.

Still, we’re hoping all this delaying was spent making the iOS versions of the cartoon kart racing game as good as it can be.

Sonic boom

With Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing packing in 15 tracks, 25 missions, and 10 characters from such series as Super Monkey Ball and (of course) Sonic, there certainly doesn’t seem to be cause for concern regarding the amount of content on offer.

Game Center and Open Feint integration are also included for those that want to wring out every last millisecond from a track, as is a Bluetooth multiplayer mode for up to four players.

The Java version managed to nab a highly prized Pocket Gamer Silver Award from this very writer when it was released around the same time as the invention of fire, so we're looking forward to seeing how it fares on the new platform.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing will be available from midnight in the UK and US, and will be priced at £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59.
