Square Enix's Victorian Mysteries: The Moonstone for iPhone and iPad hits New Zealand App Store

Move over, Hercule Poirot.

Famed Final Fantasy developer Square Enix has brought a new hidden object, mystery-solving game to the App Store.

Set in 19th-century England, Victorian Mysteries: The Moonstone sees you take on the role of Detective Cuff, who attempts to unravel the mystery of the missing Moonstone diamond.

Like all good detectives, you'll find yourself interrogating suspects, exploring rooms, examining crime scenes, and unearthing clues – with just your 'little grey cells' to aid you.

Pocket Gamer's very own part-time sleuth Will Wilson reliably informs us that the game is based on Wilkie Collins's The Moonstone – a 19th-century British book considered to be the first ever detective novel written in English.

Victorian Mysteries: The Moonstone will be available in the UK App Store from midnight for both the iPhone and iPad. It'll cost £1.19 / $1.99 / €1.59 and £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39.
