PopCap's Plants vs Zombies for iPhone updated with Zen Garden, mini-games

The recipient of the Pocket Gamer 2011 Award for Best Strategy/Simulation Game PopCap's Plants vs Zombies has been updated with plenty of new botanical treats.

A new Zen Garden, for example, allows you to collect, water, fertilise, and grow your own selection of plants, which reward you with coins if properly preened and maintained.

You can then use your dosh to purchase new plants, traps, or brand new mini-games, such as Zombiquarium and Zombotany, from Crazy Dave's famous car boot.

Finally, you can unlock extra achievements which are tied to the soon-to-be-upgraded social gaming network Game Center.

PopCap has also promised 'tons more stuff' in future updates, including support for Retina display devices. Promises, promises.

Pick up Plants vs Zombies from the App Store garden for £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39.
