Want to import PS Vita games? No problem

E3 2011: PlayStation Vita is region-free

The Nintendo 3DS is region-locked, meaning that you can only buy games from your specific region and you can't import from others.

It's a bit of a pain, especially if you're in Europe where (usually) games arrive later than in the US and Japan.

Great news has trickled through the gaming grapevine, then, regarding region-locking for the PlayStation Vita - namely, that there won't be any.

At an E3 PS Vita session attended by IGN, Michael Denny, VP of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, confirmed that the console will indeed be region-free.

It's a clever move by Sony that gives the upcoming handheld an extra one-up on its Nintendo rival.
