Like fine wines and cheese, some games get better with age. Then again, like an abandoned school lunchbox after a six-week summer break, some games are better left well alone.

EA will, of course, hope that its newly released Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp on iPhone falls into the 'vintage' category.

Originally released in 1991 on laserdisc, Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp has players working their way through time and space as dashing bumbler Dirk the Daring on a mission to rescue damsel in distress Princess Daphne.

The gameplay remains unchanged from the arcade classic, with players still selecting directions or pressing the attack button in time with on-screen animations.

Thankfully, EA has also preserved the option to have 3, 5, or (the almost obligatory) infinite lives, as - any Dragon's Lair aficionado will tell you - death will happen often.

The game is out now in New Zealand, though it'll hit the US and UK stores later tonight for £1.79 / $2.99 / €2.39.
