It isn’t a tribute to the marriage-affirming March of the Penguins, nor is it a sequel to George Eliot’s serial on provincial life in Victorian England, Middlemarch.

Instead, March of Heroes from Gameloft - the first of the company’s four promised Unreal Engine-powered games - is, rather predictably, a first-person shooter with guns, helicopters, and trumpet fanfares.

The teaser trailer released today shows a little bit of the gameplay that we can expect from the title (release date still not confirmed), including mounted machine gun emplacements, shooting baddies with, what looks like, an M16, and setting unfortunate souls on fire.

There are a few telling signs that the engine being used is a little more complex than the one previously employed for games like Modern Combat 2, such as the physics of a falling telegraph pole during the desert town scene and the general quality of the shadows.

We’ll no doubt have more news on this iPhone, iPad and Android title once E3 officially kicks off tomorrow.
