Pokemon fans are getting a treat when the Nintendo 3DS eShop launches next week, as one of the line-up titles is Pokedex 3D, a completely free Pokemon collector.

According to Nintendo World Report, you start with 16 Pokemon in your 'dex, and can check the stats and information about each, while also using the 3DS Augmented Reality filters to display your Pokemon in 3D Camera pictures.

The rest of the Pokedex can be unlocked by scanning QR codes, using SpotPass, and trading data via StreetPass. All 150 Pokemon from Pokemon Black and White can be unlocked - all the new ones, that is.

It's not exactly what we were hoping for from the next Pokemon title, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. If Nintendo would just let us battle them in a future update, that would be most excellent.
