It’s received a galaxy of accolades from critics since its US release, and now WayForward’s Mighty Milky Way has finally rocketed into Europe. It's available to download from the Nintendo DSi Shop today.

The game currently sits on an impressive 84 per cent average from review aggregator Metacritic, though coming from WayForward, creator of Shantae: Risky’s Revenge and the magnificent Mighty Flip Champs, that should come as little surprise.

Despite its title, Mighty Milky Way has no connection with the developer’s previous DSiWare hit. You play as alien heroine Luna, who uses the orbital pull of planets to move through space, killing monsters and grabbing as many sweets as she can lay her green hands on.

You’ll also have to keep out of the reach of the gargantuan galactic T-Rex, Luna’s arch nemesis. (Presumably that won’t be too difficult, given said dinosaur’s stubby arms.)

DSi and DSi XL owners can download Mighty Milky Way from their console’s online store now, for just 800 Earth (Nintendo) points. 3DS users will have to wait until next week for the firmware update which heralds the arrival of the brand new eShop.
