| Catch The Candy

Catch The Candy belongs to the popular genre of one-screen puzzles. It’s cute, and it works, but it's hard to get excited about yet another wholesome mascot grubbing on a tasty item.

It’ll fit the bill if you're desperate for a Cut the Rope-style game and you've already played Cut the Rope.

Catch The Candy is about a round alien who craves sweets. Each level has a peppermint. Your job is to move him to the peppermint so he can eat it.

The twist is that the alien doesn’t have any legs or arms -only a long tongue. The tongue can push objects out of the way or latch onto objects to pull you forward. In each level, you try to get the candy in as few moves as possible.

The environments call for different challenges. There are boxes to push, ropes to swing on, and rocks that will block your way.

Strange locales

Catch The Candy begins in the jungle, but each level is wildly different. For instance, one level will have the candy floating on a cruise ship, while the next will have it in the middle of a rock concert. It attempts to be cute, but the non-sequitur nature of the game feels disjointed.

It allows you to skip ahead of puzzles that you can’t solve, which is both a blessing and a curse. Novices will appreciate the ease of play, but unlike with Angry Birds, say, there’s really no incentive to conquer the tougher levels – you can just skip them.

Catch The Candy is what you'd expect from a one-screen mobile puzzler - decent sound, coherent puzzles, colourful visuals - and nothing more. It's a solid game, but those who want something original should look elsewhere.

Catch The Candy

It hits all the right notes, but Catch The Candy is a pretty average puzzler
