HTML5 is the new hope of many in the web community, so Google's I/O event is a good place for Game Closure to highlight its multiplatform gaming technology and plugin-free browser game Pop Star Defense.

Presented as part of Google I/O's developer sandbox event, it's been written in JavaScript, enabling it to run smoothly across devices including Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, and all HTML5-compliant browsers, without changes to the source code, either client or server.

Other advantages include the ability for friends to play across whatever devices, as well as better discovery and search, plus distribution via hyperlink.

As for the game itself, it's a twist on the tower defence genre that has you protecting your band from waves of undead pop stars, placing your fan units in the way of their advance.

You can see more about the game and platform in the following video.
